-Per Hits Daily Double, Kelly Clarkson will be grabbing the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 Album Chart, and Taylor Swift will be pushed to the #5 position for the first time in what feels like three centuries. Homegirl scored 254K in her first week, which is still behind My December's first week sales (291K and still bowed at #2 behind Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana's second official soundtrack...ahh, the glory sales days of 2006!).
-A tracklisting for Ashley Tisdale's upcoming sophomore album Guilty Pleasure has "leaked". I'm going to call BS on it for now, because it (1) it makes no mention of the confirmed first single "It's Alright, It's OK"; (2) the lineup of producers and songwriters almost sounds far too incredible to be true. However, should it be the real thing, it includes songs written/produced by Jesse McCartney, Samantha Jade, Guy Roche, JR Rotem, Kara DioGuardi, Timbaland, Hilary Duff, Miley Cyrus; and a guest appearance by Bow Wow. The Kara, JR and Guy stuff, I buy...maybe even a song by Jesse...but...this all seems to surreal to be true! Don't you think?
-Per Twitter, one of my fave MySpace discoveries, Mandy Ventrice, has been working on some new material with Evan Rogers and Carl Sturken . Can't wait to hear it!
-In addition to the brand new track, "Masquerade", Candy Coated Chaos have premiered another new song, entitled "Delirium." It's not as Britneypoptastic upon first listen as the former, but it is still very very catchy and very very listenable. They also have a brand new uh-mazingly cute photoshoot to serve as album covers for their upcoming TWO singles (yes, Beyonce, you done started a trend...again), "Masquerade" and "Utopia". The anticipation for their debut album is killing me! Check out one of the new pics below (left to right: Stephanie, Brittany & Rochella):
-Girls Aloud's latest single off Out of Control is the epic "Untouchable." The album version is over 6 mins, while the radio cut is about 3 and a half. This has left a lot of people very upset. I've heard a few people compare "Untouchable" to Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody." This is laughable, people. Let's face fact -- its sad they had to cut some of the repeative stuff out so that it fits into radio's format, but radio has worked well for GA, and if it ain't broke, don't fix it. You always have the album version, if you want something longer, but I don't see what the big deal is.
-JoJo's upcoming third album, entitled All I Want Is Everything (which I am suspecting may change due to it being awful close to Kelly's All I Ever Wanted title...but we shall see) has gained a tentative release date as June 2, 2009 per her new label, Interscope. However, take this with a grain of salt -- as her MySpace hasn't been logged in to since late February. To help hold you over, check out this video of Ms. J performing a cover of D'Angelo's "Untitled (How Does It Feel)".
-I haven't talked too much about Demi Lovato, but I want to take this second to say that I am gradually growing to love her. She's not overexposed (if you don't count the fluff that is "Camp Rock"), but after seeing her live open for the Jonas Brothers, I was blown away. She is pretty deep for a Disneygirl. I don't know what I was expecting, something more like 'Camp Rock', I suppose. Her album has its Disneypop moments, and yes, it features a lot of co-writes with the aforementioned brothers Jonas, but it also has brilliant moments like the title track, "Don't Forget". Imagine my surprise that this song was chosen as her official third single, as it hardly fits in to the sparkly Disney pop stuff. It shows off that Demi can really sing, and shouldn't be packaged up as a Miley-wannabe. Because if Miley could sing like Demi, she would shut a lot of haters up. The official video for "Don't Forget" has premiered at MySpace but isn't at YouTube yet (that I can find), so here's a live cut of her performing the song in a city that is close to my hometown...
