Dreaming Of You Tonight...

Let's all have a moment of silence in quiet remembrance of the beautiful and talented Selena. Today is the 14th anniversary of her death. It's hard to believe it's been that long, but her legacy continues to live on to this day. We miss you, mama -- may you rest in peace.

Selena Quintanilla-Perez was an American Tejano singer, who sang in both English and Spanish, and was nicknamed "The Mexican Madonna". She won a Grammy in 1994 for her album, Amor Prohibido (Forbidden Love). Not unlike Aaliyah several years later, the album Dreaming of You (an album meant to be released that year with promotion from the singer, but was left incomplete) was released in 1995 post-humously following her shocking murder at the hand of the head of her fanclub. Selena was just 23 years old.

Dreaming Of You spawned two major English hits for the late singer on American Top 40 Radio -- "Dreaming of You" and "If I Could Fall In Love". It also contained some of her more successful Spanish hits, and serves as a sort of Greatest Hits for the singer.

In 1997, a biopic about Selena's life and legacy was released to theatres starring Jennifer Lopez as Selena, and helped launch her career as a musician and actress. To this date, it is a film that Lopez is most identitifed with. Click here to watch Jennifer sing "I Could Fall In Love" live in concert in tribute to Selena a few years ago.
