[WGO] The Fray Comes Out of Nowhere

Now that Taylor Swift was swept out of the #1 spot on the Top 200 Album Chart, my head has been spinning. This week, The Fray's new self-titled album has unseated The Boss, Bruce Springsteen, to take the #1 spot, and is the Hot Shot of the week, debuting in the top spot. The Top 10 also saw debuts from Dierks Bentley and the latest in the Kids Bop compilation series.

The rest of the Top 10 is as follows:

2. Bruce Springsteen Working On A Dream (down 1 spot)
3. Dierks Bentley Feel That Fire (debut)
4. Taylor Swift Fearless (down 2 spots, but still the Greatest Gainer of the week)
5. Beyonce I Am...Sasha Fierce (down 2 spots)
6. Nickelback Dark Horse (down 2 spots)
7. Kids Bop Kids Bop 15 (debut)
8. Jamie Foxx Intuition (down 1 spot)
9. Kanye West 808s and Heartbreak (down 5 spots)
10. Keyshia Cole A Different Me (down 2 spots)

Other Notable Points about the Album Chart:
  • Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and their new album Lonely Road debuted this week at #14.
  • Lady Gaga's The Fame is back up to #16 from #19 last week. The album has peaked at #14 and looks like it might be making new strides shortly.
  • Adele had a serious Grammy kickback boost this week. Her album, 19, jumped from #56 last week to #27 this week, giving her the Pace Setter Album of the Week.
  • In related Grammy-inspired boosts, Coldplay also had a notable kickback for already having a success story album. Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends jumped from #45 to #31. After 44 weeks on the chart, Leona Lewis's debut album, Spirit, rises from#55 to #42. Jazmine Sullivan, who was nominated for several awards this past Sunday and didn't take any of them regrettably, saw a big rise for her album, Fearless, from 367 to #45.
  • Finally, Jennifer Hudson is regaining some attention for her self-titled debut album. It jumps from #71 to #47 this week.

Over on the Hot 100 Singles Chart, Eminem/Dr. Dre/50 Cent gave a rap trifecta ass kicking to Kelly Clarkson, "Crack[-ing] A Bottle" over her head and shoving her down not just one spot, but three spots...That's all the puns I got for this one. I promise. The song broke a new record (but that's not saying much as it seems like records are being broken every week these days) for fastest rising Digital Single.

In other changes in the Top 10, the T.I. & Rihanna single "Live Your Life" was pushed out of the Top 10 and replaced with the T.I. & Justin Timberlake single "Dead and Gone".

The Top 10 is as follows:

1. Eminem, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent "Crack A Bottle" (up from #78 last week)
2. Kanye West "Heartless" (up 1 spot; peak position)
3. Lady Gaga "Just Dance" (up 1 spot)
4. Kelly Clarkson "My Life Would Suck Without You" (down 3 spots)
5. Beyonce "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)" (down 3 spots)
6. All American Rejects "Gives You Hell" (no change - peak position so far)
7. Taylor Swift "Love Story" (down 2 spots)
8. The Fray "You Found Me" (down 1 spot)
9. T.I. feat. Justin Timberlake "Dead and Gone" (up 2 spots)
10. Jason Mraz "I'm Yours" (no change)

Other Notable Points in the Hot 100:
  • My girl Lady Gaga sucker-punches her way up the chart without breaking her "Poker Face", landing at #12, up from #23, making the song the Sales Gainer of the week.
  • The T.I./Rihanna single "Live Your Life" was pushed out of the Top 10 to #13, down from #8.
  • Ne-Yo and Lil Wayne continue to make strides with their singles, "Mad" and "Prom Queen", respectively reaching #14 and #15 to new peak positions.
  • After 8 weeks, Beyonce's "Diva" hits the Top 20, landing at #20. On a different Sasha note, her other single "Halo" hits a new high of #44 this week. It was #60 last week. Can you believe it's only been on the chart for 3 weeks?
  • Akon's new single with ColbyO'Donnis and Kardinal Offishall -- "Beautiful" -- regains momentum this week, jumping back up to #21. The song was #28 last week, and peaked at #19 a few weeks ago...
  • Jamie Foxx's "Blame It" with T-Pain is the Airplay Gainer this week, jumping from #37 to #26.
  • The Veronicas and "Untouched" slips down to #28. They were #20 last week, and the song peaked at #17. :( Not good news. However, their album continues to be a Bubbling Under/Digital Selling Hot Spot...so...I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
  • The-Dream's new single, "Rockin' That Thang", reaches a new high and cracks the Top 40 at #40 after seven weeks on the chart.

Love the fact that "Poker Face" overtook "Diva", and is now the stronger of the two tracks, after having trailed "Diva" for several weeks.

I never liked 'Diva'.. I find Beyonce overrated. Good to know Lady GaGa's up a spot this week!

"Diva" is growing on me, but I prefer "Single Ladies" and "Halo", compared to "If I Was/Were A Boy" and "Diva."

And woo hoo for the Gaga love!
