Apparently, the news about Gwen Stefani, Justin Timberlake and my beloved Jonas Brothers being featured on the upcoming "Shock Value 2" album by Timbaland might all just be a big Internet hoax.
The story that was circulated around the net, attributed to MTV, and distributed by Perez Hilton (which is how I heard about it) is all false...according to Timbaland himself in an interview to MTV last Tuesday. If you missed out on this circulating rumor, here's my article on it.
" "It's funny," Timbo said about the surprisingly detailed report, which claimed it was based on an advance preview of five tracks from the album. "I'm surprised people are watching me like that. I am recording the album, but I don't know none of them joints, none of them songs. That's just bogus." "
Sad face!
So either Tim is trying to throw us all off, or they really don't exist. He didn't confirm or deny the artist mentioned, though...so maybe there's still a possibility of a kernel of truth.
But since Tim is still recording the new "Shock Value", maybe he could really spread his wings and experiment with new and emerging artists, as suggested by my girl Jennifer over at her blog. I'm crossing my fingers for work with Santogold, maybe a girl group that's not PCD, T Lopez(!), Kings of Leon (the new "Apologize", anyone?), or maybe Dragonette. Jenn's ideas are awesome as well. The opportunities are endless. However, I'd still really like to hear a Timbo track with Gwen Stefani/Justin Timberlake, the Jonas Brothers, and Rihanna. ::Sigh:: I was so excited for that for that "Sandstorm"-esque track.
""I don't wanna go too left, but I wanna give them something different.""
Go left, Tim. Go farrrr left. Please? That way "Shock Value 2" will lead up to its name and have real shock value.
I really should have realized all that was too good to be true after hearing the alleged Valentine's Day release date. That is out the window as well, but Tim is saying it should be released in 2009.
Grrrrrr. Lameeeee.
You can read the whole article here. Thanks MTV, for killing my mood.
